HOMESCHOOL REIMBURSEMENT NOTES
ALBERTA EDUCATION GUIDELINES
WE REIMBURSE: (Sample only, there are many more)
-Books, magazines, educational online subscriptions
-Internet – only half of the cost
-Electronics used for school
-Field trips: Only students registered with us can claim
-Supplies: School, art, sewing, cooking, etc. (must be related to course indicated in learning plan.)
-Taxes and shipping on online purchases
WE REIMBURSE, BUT ADDED TOGETHER THESE CANNOT BE MORE THAN HALF YOUR FUNDING
(We call this the 50 Percent Category)
-Lessons including: dance, swim, music, horse riding, parkour, skating, skiing, karate
-One ski rental per school year
-Group sport equipment that is usually played in schools, such as volleyball, basketball, and baseball
-Field trips: only students registered with us can claim
-Large items for electives such as sewing machines, camera, musical instruments, woodwork tools. These must be part of your school plan.
Note: Items in the 50% category must be claimed in this school year. We cannot reimburse for last years unless it was past the deadline (June, July, & August).
THINGS WE CANNOT REIMBURSE:
-Backpacks, lunch kits
-Lego kits EXCEPT for Basic, Robotics, Educational sets
-Warranties on electronics
-Furniture – desks, tables
-Classroom setup expenses – whiteboards, file cabinets, organizers
-Hockey equipment except for skates
-Bikes, rip sticks, trampolines, skateboards. These are all usually purchased by parents.
Want to send in old receipts from previous years?
Yes, you can if they are books, supplies, internet costs, electronics, and curriculum
No, if they are part of the 50% category, such as lessons, musical instruments, ski rentals
American purchases? – We pay the Canadian exchange. If you know it, write it in, or send a copy of your credit card bill, otherwise the office uses the monthly average.
FILLING OUT YOUR REIMBURSEMENT FORM:
-Fill in your family name, address, and children’s names
-Please write in one invoice per line
-For description you can write: books, curriculum, supplies, or field trip, etc.
-For items in the 50% category you write the full amount.
-If someone has sold you books and the invoice is in their name, please attach a letter from them stating you have paid them for this invoice.
-If unsure of amount, leave blank and it will be completed in our office. Thank you!
